Walking through the center square
Saw a man with a broken stare.
And I don't have the words to write it down.
Told me about a wasted son, born a sinner but a happy one
until he had a woman who died along with his mind.
Crying for the atmosphere
Angry words helped his eyes to clear
And now he sits only for a cigarette
And he's crouched on the curb where his parents had met
for a good time.
And he's singing here
in the center square
and he's staring out into nothing
that is standing there
and I feel like I've known him for the longest time.
Talking to the ground
A cold beat shoe slowly walks around
And I wish I could hear just what she's found
Another woman finds her smile...
She puts it on for me with a sigh,
And I love her for awhile,
so I leave before the silence dies,
cause I can see ahead for miles and
she is singing here
in the center square
and she's clinging onto her nothing
that is standing there
and I feel like I've known her for the longest time.
The mother daughter story ends
to sit and watch is much to bear
but I swear I can see just a little child.
Sinking and the mother's blue
Shut my eyes to picture you
Living wild all the while
7000 miles only makes me smaller
and I'm singing here
in the center square
And I'm swinging out at nothing
that is standing there
and I feel like I've known this for the longest time.
